Digitisation is shaping healthcare delivery

04 May 2026

SA’s national digital health strategy promotes interoperable systems, responsible governance and person-centred design so that digital solutions become dependable clinical pathways.
Alongside digitisation, hyper-personalised care is emerging, using secure data and predictive models to move from reactive to proactive care through early intervention and tailored support.
However, digital transformation depends on leadership, mentorship and workforce retention to embed sustainable change. Partnerships such as Metropolitan Health’s collaboration with the Board of Healthcare Funders and the National School of Government highlight the importance of training, shared governance and data ethics. Standardisation, continuity, and local leadership development are key to accessible, relevant and lasting healthcare reform.
