Sanlam achieves direct access to the healthcare through AfroCentric

13 Nov 2025

AfroCentric, once regarded as a champion of inclusive healthcare and transformation, now operates as a controlled subsidiary, with Sanlam’s controlling 59% stake, combined with 17% held by insiders and 9% by BEE partners, and a free float of less than 8%. – Financial Mail (13 Nov 2025)
“AfroCentre, serving over 3.8m members, is now providing Sanlam with direct access to the nation's healthcare arteries. It is now the operational core of Sanlam Health, positioned to support partnerships (like Fedhealth) and manage data from key schemes like Bonitas and the Government Employees Medical Scheme (GEMS).
“AfroCentric’s public collapse may prove to be Sanlam’s greatest private victory. Freed from a market, that stopped listening years ago, AfroCentric can finally focus on its true purpose: rebuilding its health ecosystem as the engine room for Sanlam's next decade of growth.”
