The research will evaluate obeldesivir, an experimental oral antiviral drug developed by Gilead Sciences, designed both to prevent infection among people exposed to Ebola, as well as remdesivir.
Africa CDC said beginning the trials quickly was essential to establish whether the experimental therapies could protect exposed people and improve survival rates among infected patients.
