In its latest reported the Auditor-General highlighted systemic failures including: an accumulated deficit of R27.8bn; incomplete disclosure of irregular expenditure of R459m; control weaknesses leading to R36.5m in diverted payments; and R6.4m in overpayments.
National Treasury data revealed financial deviations of R1.412bn and contract variations of R719m between 2022 and 2025. The 2024/25 financial year alone has seen deviations of R811.4m
According to the acting chief claims officer, Tshepo Moatshe, the RAF has launched a backlog reduction campaign and plans to allocate R4bn per month to reduce claims liability.”
