The Spar Group recently acquired the pharmaceutical wholesaler Aptekor Group in a move to expand its healthcare footprint, reported Business Day (23 9October 3025).
According to Jeremy Nicol, Managing Director of Spar Health, Aptekor brings decades of experience and deep relationships within the healthcare ecosystem, “strengthening Spar’s ability to support independent pharmacies and practitioners through trusted service, reliable supply and a national brand that SA already know and trust”.
“Clicks currently leads the pharmaceutical retail and wholesale sector, with Dis-Chem following closely with a strong focus on wellness and digital innovation. Shoprite's MediRite banner has also grown steadily to over 140 pharmacies.”
