Netcare’s patient volumes rose in FY2026, keeping the private hospital group on track with its guidance. Total paid patient days increased 1.6%, while acute hospital activity grew 0.8%, despite medical scheme solvency measures, network changes and tighter managed-care protocols limiting activity. Acute occupancy is expected to reach 66%, while mental health paid patient days rose 8.2%, with occupancy increasing to 72.7%. Group revenue is forecast to grow about 4%, while the normalised EBITDA margin should improve from 18.6% in FY2025. Netcare also repurchased R1.04bn of shares. The group expects stronger second-half performance and will release full-year results on 23 November. – Business Day (1 October 2026)
