According to Dr Matshidiso Moeti, regional director of WHO Africa, countries were in a better position now to tackle Covid-19 challenges than at its outset and peak in July. Moeti said while the downward trend in the past three months has plateaued and some countries are seeing increases in cases ... many governments used the time during lockdowns to ramp up their capacities. She advised that, instead of trying to lock down the whole country, countries should use data to see where hotspots are happening and try to reinforce public health interventions there.
